Why Everyone Wants To Be A Content Creator In 2024

Why Everyone Wants To Be A Content Creator In 2024

It’s easy to notice when online, that everyone and their mom is now a content creator. Going into 2024, 2025, and the upcoming years, this will only continue to grow.

You can’t blame people for rushing to begin their content creation journey, since the gig comes with a plethora of perks, benefits, freebies, and paid opportunities.

The possibilities of putting yourself out there as a content creator are endless, and this blog post will go over many of the reasons more and more people are beginning their journey with content creation and social media.

Why more people are turning to content creation

Content creation is similar to the ripple effect. When we see other creators performing well, being successful, and making money, it gives us a reason to give it a shot. It often looks like a nice lifestyle, right?

I remember before I started as a content creator, I saw other girls receiving tons of free beauty products from brands and PR agencies and was a huge factor in my wanting to start my journey of content creation.

Freedom and Creativity

Aside from our own personal reasons for starting as a content creator, creating content allows us a platform to share our lives, be creative, and be our own boss.

You won’t get this level of freedom and creativity from working a 9-5 job, but with content creation, you and do and create almost anything you like.

Content creation is often started as a hobby to escape one’s 9-5 job or personal reality, and many successfully escape their full-time jobs completely from it.

Accessibility

Nowadays, it not only seems like everyone and their grandma is on social media but that they also have a smartphone – which for starters, can be the only tool you need to start creating content.

Gen Z and younger generations have been born into the era of social media and content creation – it is their ‘normal’. Content creation in the last few years has been heavily normalized throughout the world, which is not something that will likely change.

The level of accessibility of people young and old with both smartphones and the Internet, allows just about anyone to start their own content creation journey.

There’s room for everyone

As we’ve moved on from the original stages of social media, where content was still pretty scarce, today’s landscape offers content on just about anything.

You can pretty much start as a content creator in about any niche or category of interest – and there will be an audience.

Different types of content creators

None of us are created equally, and not all of us fit into the same category of a content creator.

There are a multitude of social media platforms to start on with being a content creator, with some of the most popular being Instagram (the OG “influencer” platform), Tiktok, Facebook, and YouTube.

Different types of content creators can include blogging (like this blog!), vlogging, podcasts, UGC (user-generated content), ebooks, and much, much more.

The perks of being a content creator

The perks of being a content creator can be unlimited, especially depending on what type of content creator you are.

Gifted Collaborations

Common perks of being a content creator include gifted collaborations, where brands will send you their products for free (yes – they should be covering shipping and ALL associated fees).

Gifted collaborations are where more content creators start and stay for a long time, as it can be difficult to move up to paid collaborations without time, research and knowledge. Though you won’t be making money with gifted collaborations, you at least will not be spending money, and maybe saving some cash on other items since you won’t need to buy them.

I haven’t bought skincare products (and other self-care products) for a very long time, since I now receive gifted PR from skincare brands on a frequent basis.

Once you’ve established yourself as a content creator a little further on social media, you’ll eventually be exposed to paid collaborations. Here’s where the real fun starts!

If you’re serious about content creation, paid collaborations should be a long-term goal that you work towards. It’s important to be paid for your work (I mean, unless you want to work for free forever).

Paid collaborations are a large reason why more and more people are starting their content creation journeys (remember, most of us want to escape that 9-5 job), and was definitely a reason I started mine!

What you need to start as a content creator

One of the biggest reasons people start their content creation journey is the barrier to entry – which is EXTREMELY low.

As a content creator, you don’t need much to start. 99% of content creators will not need a fancy degree, license, or certification to start.

There are low upfront costs to begin, as long as you have some kind of smartphone, like an iPhone, and access to the internet.

All I started with was an iPhone when I started pushing out content, and I worked with over a dozen brand collaborations before I even bought a tripod.

Bottom Line: Why Everyone Is Now A Content Creator

There are so many reasons why to start a content creation journey, and the perks and benefits will only grow as we become more immersed through social media platforms.

Social media is a fast-changing and dynamic industry, trends will come and go, and it’s important for content creators to stay on top of the everchanging industry.
